The Hugh Downs School of Human Communication at Arizona State University officially welcomes (packet) all of our high school forensics colleagues to this year’s Hugh Downs School of Human Communication Invitational (HDSHCI).

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR STUDENTS: We will be taking pictures and video throughout the tournament to share on social media. Please distribute this link with students so they can complete our photo release. Scholarships!

At this year’s tournament, we are excited that the Institute for Speech and Debate is awarding scholarships to the top finishers in Congressional Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Public Forum Debate, and all speech events. The scholarship awards will be as follows:

1stPlace: $500
2ndPlace: $250
Finals for Speech/Congress: $100
Semifinals for Debate: $100

*Some terms and conditions apply – more information will be given to scholarship winners*

The 2019 tournament schedule is now live, with a couple big changes: Policy, Worlds, and Pattern A (EXT, OO, IMP, DUO, POI) will happen simultaneously. Public Forum, Lincoln-Douglas, and Pattern B (INFO, DI, HI, PRO, POE) will happen simultaneously. Debate students may only enter speech events in the OPPOSITE pattern.
